We're Fed Up!

Teens today are packing on the pounds more than ever before. Today 65% of adults are classified as overweight or obese. The rate of obesity has risen even more sharply among teens specifically and this is a serious problem because obesity persists into adulthood for 70% of teens. As a result, one third of kids in the United States will be expected to develop type 2 diabetes!

Now is the time more than ever to express your concerns about America's obesity problem. "Obesity is a problem that's affecting teens and what better way to reach other teens than by teens themselves," said Ruben Brambila of Youth Activism Against Obesity. Werefedup.com is website created by 40 youth leaders from South Los Angeles and Baldwin Park high school. On the site, teens can get useful tips on how to prevent obesity and blog their concerns about it. We're Fed Up also features areas on the site where teens can blog about their own weight problems, share healthy recipes and post photos and fitness tips. Their overall goal is to have kids make healthy choices about what they eat. You can also even find out secret information like how untruthful food marketing can be and how we are all being tricked by the fast food industry!

If you are concerned about your own weight or simply want to voice your concern, what are you waiting for? Get off your couch, start creating a profile, and spread the word so your friends can make a difference too!
